Overview

The Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Foundation (GSTF) is undergoing an exciting change and building its own Fundraising function and so are growing its Systems team. This will first support that change but also continue to seek ways to improve how technologies, our principal systems, processes and information can help the Foundation achieve its charitable goals.  
 
The Fundraising Database Manager 12 month fixed term contract, will be responsible for the provision of data & user support for all fundraising activities on the Raiser’s Edge system by ensuring that the data held on the department’s database is usable, consistent and accurate. The role will be responsible for line reports that will need to perform to a high level but also develop so that the team will be a leading force in how fundraising functionality will be managed in the Foundation’s future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage data administration, imports, selections, and outputs directly through a high-performing team. Strive to achieve the optimum level of service and accuracy for our supporters. 
  • Manage and assess the relevance and accuracy of all data integration developments and projects. 
  • Lead, motivate, inspire, build, and develop the team, and together meet the needs of your stakeholders. 
  • Line management of a small team; supporting, coaching, and nurturing them to continuously develop, maximizing training and development opportunities. 
  • Improve systems and processes wherever possible working cross functionally with supporter facing teams and change managers to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Coach direct reports on the application of process and project management skills. 
  • Resolve donor financial and data queries submitted via donor facing teams. 
  • Supervise direct reports in handling standard queries and how to take forward complex queries. 
  • Motivate, manage and develop direct reports. 
  • Ensure the team work to prioritised deadlines while managing all stakeholder expectations appropriately. 
  • Work in collaboration with other members of the Systems team to build a comprehensive network that together supports the fundraising and engagement ambitions of the Foundation. 
  • Lead on delivery of projects. 
  • Write training material and procedural instructions and provide appropriate training, support, and feedback to colleagues. 
  • Balance a busy workload and ensure deadline conflicts are managed, considering the priorities of our internal clients.

Knowledge, experience, and qualifications: 

Essential:
  • Experience with line management. 
  • Experience with administering a Raiser’s Edge database. 
  • Experience of SQL and knowledge of other query languages/ applications. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build rapport and establish credibility quickly, tailoring style to a broad range of individuals at all levels. 
  • Delivery of successful projects. 
  • Experience in a similar role, ready to champion the benefits of a fundraising system. 
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. 
  • Ability to gather, analyse and administer complex sets of data. 
  • Adaptation and presentation of information to a non-expert audience. 
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of fundraising operations. 
  • Experience of working to agile principles.
