We are recruiting for an Internal Communications Officer to join us on a fixed term contract for 9-12months, you'll play a crucial role in enhancing our internal communications function. The Internal Communications Officer will be integrated within our Communications and Engagement directorate, who are divided into sub departments designed to operate as business partners to the subsidiaries we have within the foundation: Corporate, Impact on Urban Health, Charities, Policy & Influence and Digital. This role will sit within our Corporate Communications and Marketing team. 

Key Responsibilities

Working closely with the Internal Communications Manager, you'll contribute to strategic projects aimed at improving and expanding our internal communications capabilities. Your responsibilities will include supporting day-to-day activities, ensuring effective communication to help staff engage with our mission and values. You'll be instrumental in delivering internal communications plans, with a focus on key areas such as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Collaborating closely with our People & Culture team, you'll be part of a business partnering approach, supporting key projects like the rollout of our People Strategy and a comprehensive change program encompassing new systems and policies. Your role involves creating and editing internal communications content, managing communication channels, and supporting the delivery of all-staff internal communications events. Additionally, you'll engage in stakeholder management, providing communications advice to internal stakeholders and fostering relationships with agencies. As a meticulous planner, you'll manage the internal communications calendar, ensuring alignment with key stakeholders and planning content as required. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Here are some of the key areas we will require you to have experience or knowledge of. If you feel that you may not meet all of these but have strong transferable skills in some of these areas. We would encourage you to apply.
  • Demonstrable experience in internal communications, preferably in the non-profit sector OR strong copywriting/content creation experience with a vested interest in/desire to apply to internal communications. 
  • Using content and multiple channels to inform and engage staff. 
  • Supporting and delivering successful engagement activities e.g. internal campaigns or events (event experience preferred but not essential).
  • Managing multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment 
  • Excellent copy-writing and copy-editing skills, with ability to flex tone as required and attention to detail. 
  • It is important that the candidate can work in a fast-paced and busy environment and working to tight deadlines. They need to be able to multi-task various project simultaneously and be proactive and responsive to Line Manager and Stakeholder requests. 
  •  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Delivery-minded with a can-do attitude.
  • Confident working with a variety of internal stakeholders.
  • Commitment to championing audience needs and acting on feedback. 
  • Excellent eye for detail and quality.
