Key partnership information

What we’re doing together

We support the Corporate Influencing Coordination Group to help coordinate organisations actively working to influence the food industry to increase the healthiness and sustainability of food and drink products. The Group aims to help align the key policy asks and approaches of organisations seeking a more equitable food system and seeks to build collaboration and intelligence sharing between members as well as providing a platform for a wider range of organisations to engage with this work.

The Group brings together organisations working to influence food companies and policymakers through an ‘insider’ approach; presenting evidence, data and policy positions to target stakeholders through private meetings and channels. This approach is distinct from campaigning and creating public pressure.

Aims of the partnership

The Group supports organisations to coordinate their work more efficiently and become better informed about food industry influencing across the not-for-profit sector, with the aim of increasing the success of that influencing.

At Impact on Urban Health, we want to understand how fruitful this approach can be in influencing the food industry and policymakers. For example, how willing NGO organisations are to share intelligence and co-ordinate their work, and how effective this could be in achieving aligned aims.

Connection to our strategy

The Group supports our programme objectives:

  • Increase corporate responsibility and accountability within the national food industry.
  • Encourage the adoption of national policies proven to reduce food-related health inequalities for children and young people.

More about Bite Back

Bite Back 2030 is a youth-led campaign calling for the food system to be re-designed to protect the health and futures of millions of children. They believe that every young person deserves access to healthy, nutritious food — no matter where they live — and fight to make that happen. They want young people to know the truth about how the food system is designed and how it can be redesigned to put their health first.

More about The Food Foundation

The Food Foundation is a UK charity working to influence food policy and business practice, shaping a sustainable food system which makes healthy diets affordable and accessible for all.

“We need a food system that works in favour of child health. It has been encouraging to see a growing number of food industry leaders openly supporting bold government action to improve the nutritional quality of what they sell, and create a level playing field based on regulation, not just voluntary changes, so that everyone is held to the same high standards. We’re excited for this opportunity to work with our partners to help create the conditions for industry change and further regulation.”
