Mohamed Osman joins as new Executive Director of Impact on Urban Health

We’re delighted to welcome Mohamed Osman as our new Executive Director. Over more than 20 years, Mohamed has built the kind of partnerships that turn evidence into lasting change for people facing health inequalities, and we’re thrilled to have that experience now working for South London.

Mohamed said: “What drew me to this role is the rigour behind the work, and the evidence-led commitment to changing the conditions people live in. I’m looking forward to working with such a strong team, learning from what they’ve already built, and helping push that work further for urban communities in London and beyond.”

Mohamed joins us from Spring Impact, where he spent six years as CEO working alongside more than 1,000 charities, foundations and businesses to help them grow their impact sustainably. It’s work that already brought him close to home: through Spring Impact, he worked directly with grantees in our own portfolio, including Bite Back, Chefs in Schools and Rice Marketing, helping them think through how to scale. He arrives already knowing many of the organisations we back, and the real challenges they face day to day.

Before that, Mohamed spent 11 years at the Elton John AIDS Foundation, where he played a leading role in developing one of the UK’s first social impact bonds, expanding HIV testing in emergency departments in areas of high prevalence. It started right here, in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham hospitals, and has since become national NHS policy.

Alongside his executive work, Mohamed serves as a Board Member for Educate!, which supports young people across Africa to develop the skills they need to thrive, and for the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, where he has also chaired its People, Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
