Exploring ways to make our decision-making and processes more inclusive
Together with Doing Social, we explored how to make our decision-making more inclusive by involving people with lived experience of health inequities in Lambeth and Southwark.
Congratulations and an update following the appointment of Peter Babudu, Executive Director of Impact on Urban Health, to the House of Lords.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Babudu to the House of Lords.
Peter joined Impact on Urban Health as Executive Director in July 2023. During his time here, he has led the organisation through the development of our new strategy and enabled the continued impact of our programmes and partnerships.
Prior to joining Impact on Urban Health, Peter was a councillor for Rye Lane Ward on Southwark London Borough Council and held senior leadership roles at Youth Endowment Fund and The Social Innovation Partnership. His appointment is a testament to the great work he has done both here and throughout his career.
As an independent, non-partisan charity, one of our routes to impact is through influencing policy and engaging with policymakers across all parties. As Peter is now a Labour peer, he will be leaving the organisation in due course. He will remain in post until a replacement is recruited.
Our priority throughout this period and beyond is to continue our work to make urban areas healthier places for everyone to live.
Laurie Lee said: “We are very proud of Peter’s appointment, which is a testament to his career to date, including his leadership at Impact on Urban Health. The experience and insight he brings to his role is exactly the kind of representation we want to see more of in the House of Lords, to help us create a healthier society for all.”
